Thomas Schwab is Senior Expert for European Economics in the Europe Program at the Bertelsmann Stiftung. He specializes in economic policy analysis, with a focus on territorial inequalities.
He has authored and co-authored numerous studies on public finance and economic cohesion, particularly in the context of the green and digital transition. Thomas applies innovative, data-driven research designs to support evidence-based policymaking. His work has been published in leading journals, including the Journal of Public Economics, Research Policy, Intereconomics, and Wirtschaftsdienst.
Prior to joining the Bertelsmann Stiftung, Thomas worked as a data scientist for a major Berlin-based internet company and gained professional experience at a leading auditing and tax consulting firm. He studied economics in Vienna, Berlin, and Mannheim, where he received his Ph.D. in corporate taxation from the University of Mannheim.
